The Forte di Belvedere was built in 1590 at the request of Grand Duke Ferdinand I to help defend the city of Florence against siege. The Fort was desiged by Bernardo Buontalenti and Don Giovanni de Medici. The Fort commands some of the most spectacular views over the city of Florence.
