Palazzo Antinori - Antinori Palace
Walking distance from the Duomo, and considered to be one of the most beautiful renaissance palaces in all of Firenze, Palazzo Antinori can be found at the end of Via de Tornabuoni (Florence's equivalent of London's Bond Street, with all the major fashion brands.
It was designed and built over a four year period most probably by Giuliano da Maiano, for Giovanni di Bono Boni. Due to a shortage of finances, Boni put the property on the market in its unfinished state in 1475, and it was purchased by the Martelli brothers. On the death of one of the brothers, the other decided to sell the palace, as house prices at the time had escalated to record highs.
As a result, in 1506 the Palace was bought by Niccolò Antinori who made a series of improvements to the building. It is believed that the work was undertaken by Baccio d'Agnolo. Principally the work involved alterations to the back of the building and to the interior garden. To this day the Antinori family still live inside this amazing palace.
