The town’s original name was Castelvecchio, meaning ‘old castle’ because it grew on the site of an ancient Roman castle known as Timignano. One of the larger and most impressive among these has to be Certaldo’s Boccaccesca festival. Named for and held in honour of the famous 14th century writer and beloved son of the town, Boccaccio, this foodie festival has been taking place since 1999 and sees Certaldo Alto taken over for three to four days each October or late September by all sorts of food stalls selling products and snacks, demonstrations, lessons, talks, tastings, and much more besides. So, if you love to eat well and you have been browsing our luxury villas in Florence nearby or our holiday rentals in Certaldo itself, then consider planning a getaway in the area around the 14th to the 16th of October this year or around that general time on any given year to sample the delights of the Boccaccesca festival.

Die Ferienwohnung liegt postkartenmotiv - like auf einem kleinen Hügel, umgeben von Weinbergen, Olivenhainen und Ackerland. Direkt nebenan ist eine gut besuchte "Bar" wo sehr gut gegessen werden kann. Zum einkaufen nach Castelfiorentino sind es ca. 4km über. Hier empfiehlt sich das Auto.
Die Wohnungen sind sehr großzügig an Fläche ausgelegt. Ausgestattet mit allem notwendigen und sehr sauber. Keine Klimaanlage, brauchte es aber auch nicht obwohl wir tagsüber 35-38°C hatten ist es in der Nacht angenehm abgekühlt.
Küche mit Gasherd, Kühlschrank & Spülmaschine und kleinem Tisch-Backofen.
Achtung: keine Kaffeemaschine, nur Espressokocher für den Gasherd oder Bodum-Presse, kein Wasserkocher, kein "richtiger" Backofen.
Der Ansprechpartner (Lorenzo) war sehr freundlich und immer hilfsbereit.
Pool ist sehr sauber und mit Schattenplätzen und genug Liegen ausgestattet.
In Poolnähe gibt es auch einen Holzkohlegrill.

Fazit: Sehr zum empfehlen ! Wir würden die Wohnung wieder buchen.

[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] The holiday apartment is postcard-like on a small hill, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and farmland. Right next door is a busy bar where you can eat very well. For shopping in Castelfiorentino it is about 4km away. The car is recommended here.
The apartments are very spacious in terms of space. Equipped with everything necessary and very clean. No air conditioning, but we didn't need it, even though it was 35-38°C during the day, it cooled down pleasantly at night.
Kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator & dishwasher and small table oven.
Attention: no coffee machine, only espresso maker for the gas stove or Bodum press, no kettle, no "real" oven.
The contact person (Lorenzo) was very friendly and always helpful.
Pool is very clean and has shaded areas and enough loungers.
There is also a charcoal grill near the pool.

Conclusion: Highly recommended! We would book the apartment again.

Het appartement zelf was erg ruim en fijn! Mooie oud Toscaanse details. Grote, goed ingerichte keuken. Eigen terras, waar regelmatig een lekker windje te voelen was. Zwembad was top! En goede locatie om veel van Toscane te kunnen zien. Wat minder was: Er zijn 2 horren, het zou fijn zijn als er meer zouden zijn. De vaatwasser deed het nog wel, maar de laden vielen er steeds uit. Verder staat er op de eigen site van de agristurismo een speeltuintje, dit was er helaas niet meer.
