Gambassi Terme is a town in Tuscany, located in the south of Florence province, on the border with the province of Siena, which is home to famous thermal baths. Archaeological evidence indicates that the town has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age but it wasn't properly settled until the Etruscans arrived in the seventh century BC. It was later home to the Romans and there is evidence of a castle there in the Middle Ages, going as far back as 1037. Gambassi Castle then became property of the bishopric of Volterra until the end of the twelfth century before a newer castle was built next to the old in the 12th century. Disputes over the ownership of the town led to bloody battles until it finally came under Florentine rule in the 13th century. Only since 1977 has it been called Gambassi “Terme”, an addition to highlight the importance of its natural spas (the “terme”).

For a peaceful yet fascinating place to visit during your holiday to Tuscany, Castelfiorentino is perfect for the tourists that like to see the little Tuscan towns off the beaten track. Situated between the Arno River valley and the north face of Elsa valley, Castelfiorentino was once a military base because it was of equal distance from the main Renaissance cities of Pisa, Siena and Florence. It was originally built on the side of the famous Via Francigena pilgrim route to facilitate the many travellers who passed by and needed somewhere to eat and rest for the night.

Visitors have a fantastic range of exclusive villas in Castelfiorentino with excellent customer reviews. The town’s original name was Castelvecchio, meaning ‘old castle’ because it grew on the site of an ancient Roman castle known as Timignano. It was a huge fortress with doubled layer walls with five gates and a lookout tower. Some of its ruins can still be seen today by tourists. In 1149, the town’s name was changed to Castelfiorentino because of its close relations with the city of Florence.

Italy is famous for her Nativity scenes, or presepi, and Tuscany, in particular, has quite a long and rich tradition of exhibiting some very impressive examples. Many different towns have presepi, sometimes with live animals and actors, sometimes on a large scale, sometimes innovative, sometimes historic and traditional, and sometimes as part of an exhibition of multiple examples. In fact, last year, we wrote a whole guide to the different presepe traditions in Tuscany. However, one town with one of the most beloved and famous of these traditions in recent years has to be Castelfiorentino. If you have found a luxury villa in Florence and love Christmas, this magical little Tuscan festive tradition might be your cup of tea.

Boccaccesca: A Delicious Reason To Book A Villa In Tuscany This Fall

Autumn means harvest season and if you were thinking about an off-season vacation in Tuscany in one of our Tuscany villas then foodies will be glad to know thaat it is also foodie season. During the Fall, Tuscany is not only flooded with all sorts of delicious food products that have been freshly harvested but it abounds with food festivals. While food festivals do take place throughout the entire year, there are endless options to choose from at this time of the year, in particular. One of the larger and most impressive among these has to be Certaldo’s Boccaccesca festival. Named for and held in honour of the famous 14th century writer and beloved son of the town, Boccaccio, this foodie festival has been taking place since 1999 and sees Certaldo Alto taken over for three to four days each October or late September by all sorts of food stalls selling products and snacks, demonstrations, lessons, talks, tastings, and much more besides. So, if you love to eat well and you have been browsing our luxury villas in Florence nearby or our holiday rentals in Certaldo itself, then consider planning a getaway in the area around the 14th to the 16th of October this year or around that general time on any given year to sample the delights of the Boccaccesca festival.

Bardzo serdeczni i mili gospodarze. Wiele udogodnień dla dzieci: stół do ping-ponga, przygotowany teren do gry w bule, dla mniejszych plac zabaw, dla większych tenis ziemny. dodatkowo duża sala, w której dostępne były inne gry karciane i planszowe. Rewelacyjny był włoski wieczór - dodatkowo płatny, ale wart swojej ceny, zarówno z uwagi na różnorodność potraw, jak i namiastki włoskiej, rodzinnej atmosfery. Obiekt jest również dobrze położony dla osób chcących zwiedzić okolicę, dojazd do Sieny, Pizy, Florencji do godziny, ok 30 minut do San Giminiano. Trudno wskazać minusy, może trochę namolne komary, które dały się we znaki szczególnie dzieciom. Niemniej bardzo miło wspominają to miejsce. Pośród wielu atrakcji i kilku miejsc podczas tegorocznej podróży to miejsce wspominają najbardziej.

Very friendly and kind hosts. Many amenities for children: table tennis, prepared area for playing boules and in addition a large hall in which other card and board games were available. An Italian dinner was sensational - extra paid, but worth the money, both because of the variety of dishes and an experience of the Italian family atmosphere. The property is also well located for people who want to explore the area, access to Siena, Pisa, Florence in an hour, about 30 minutes to San Gimignano. It is difficult to point out the drawbacks, maybe the mosquitoes, which especially affected children. Nevertheless, they remember this place as very nice. Among the many attractions and several places during this year's trip, they remember this place the most.

posto bellissimo ma non è la cosa più importante.. la disponibilità, l'accoglienza e soprattutto la fiducia dimostrata sono gli ingredienti principali che hanno reso il nostro soggiorno perfetto. Nella pace e nel relax più totale, solo due giorni, ma stando in un posto dove gli unici rumori che senti sono gli uccellini (e l'assiolo.. un gufo notturno) ti sembra di stare in un mondo a parte. Vicino a San Giminiano e Volterra (mezz'ora di auto). A Castefiorentino (15 min di auto) trovi tutto ciò che serve per mangiare. Per raggiungere l'agriturismo c'è una strada sterrata (ca 1km) e anche questo permette il silenzio totale. Biliardino, Ping pong, campi da gioco, piscina e giochi per bambini, completano una struttura già di per se molto ben organizzata. Loro sono viticoltori di un ottimo vino.. consiglio la degustazione e l'acquisto. Posto consigliatissimo!

In total peace and relaxation, only two days, but being in a place where the only sounds you hear are the birds (and the scops owl ... a night owl) you feel like you're in a world apart. Close to San Gimignano and Volterra (half an hour by car). In Castelfiorentino (15 min by car) you will find everything you need to eat. To reach the farm there is a dirt road (approx 1 km) and this also allows total silence. Table football, ping pong, playgrounds, swimming pool and games for children, complete a complex already very well organised. The owners are winemakers of an excellent wine .. I recommend tasting and buying it. Highly recommended place!
