Outdoors

The estate's outdoor spaces are as impressive in scale as they are in beauty. The grounds extend across roughly 37 hectares, partly covered by an olive grove and a large forest, while approximately 1 hectare surrounding the main buildings is cultivated with grass. The internal vegetation is richly varied, featuring numerous species of plants and flowers, typical shrubs from the wooded area, aromatic plants, and colorful seasonal blooms that enliven the environment throughout the year. 2 distinct outdoor dining areas are available for guests: one is positioned directly in front of the dining room's French windows and is furnished with tables, chairs, and a barbecue, while the second is located within the wonderful courtyard, offering an intimate and tranquil setting ideal for relaxed conversation and leisurely meals.

The non-heated swimming pool is situated approximately 50 meters from the Monastery, enjoying a breathtaking panoramic position overlooking Collevalenza. Irregularly shaped, it covers an area of 82 square meters with a constant depth of 1.40 meters. The pool is sanitized with chlorine, illuminated by internal lights, covered with PVC, and accessed via 4 submerged steps. The surrounding paved area is generously furnished with sun loungers, deckchairs, gazebos, and umbrellas. An outdoor shower with cold water and a dedicated changing room with bathroom are also available for guests' convenience. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.

Unit Layout

The Santa Illuminata Estate accommodates a maximum of 20 guests across 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, distributed between the historic Monastery and a separate annex.

The Monastery is spread over 2 floors connected both from the inside via an elevator and from the outside via a staircase. The main entrance leads to a large living room, a second entrance, a characteristic living room with windows facing the courtyard, and a service bathroom. Ascending 8 steps from the main entrance, guests reach the dining room, which features French windows providing direct access to the outdoor dining area. This level is completed by a fully equipped kitchen with a built-in barbecue. Descending 4 steps from the main entrance, a large tavern with a fireplace, a laundry room, and 2 service bathrooms complete the lower level.

The courtyard's external staircase, or alternatively the elevator, leads to the first floor, where the sleeping quarters are arranged across 3 wings. In the left wing, guests will find a double bedroom with a large living room — the oldest room in the Monastery — and an en-suite bathroom featuring both a bath and a shower. The wing facing the entrance comprises 3 double bedrooms, each with its own living room and a wooden staircase providing access to the rooms on a higher level, each equipped with an en-suite bathroom with shower. The right wing contains 3 double bedrooms, 2 of which feature divisible beds, each with an en-suite bathroom with shower.

From one of the rooms in the Monastery, guests may access the Monastery Tower, which consists of a small living room on the entry level, an intermediate floor housing a bathroom with shower, and an upper floor featuring a double bedroom. The tower room is included in the 10 total bedrooms of the property and may be used within the maximum capacity of 20 guests. On an elevated floor with independent access exclusively from the outside, an additional double bedroom with an open-space living room and an en-suite bathroom with shower is also available.

The annex, located approximately 50 meters from the Monastery within the Santa Illuminata Estate near the Church, has been lovingly restored from an ancient farmhouse. Accessed through a charming porch, the annex is arranged on a single floor and comprises a living room with a kitchenette, 1 double bedroom with divisible beds, 1 twin bedroom, and 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a half bath.

The entire structure, including both the Monastery and the annex, is equipped with air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable indoor climate throughout the warmer months. Heating is also available for the cooler seasons, allowing guests to enjoy the property year-round in complete comfort. The laundry room is fitted with a washing machine, making extended stays entirely practical and convenient. In the kitchen, a dishwasher is available alongside the full suite of built-in appliances, streamlining meal preparation and cleanup. Guests can also enjoy satellite TV for entertainment during their downtime. The property warmly welcomes pets, allowing guests to bring their animal companions along for the stay.

Guests should be aware that the photographic services for the estate are typically carried out in spring, meaning that the colors and blooms of the gardens, lawns, and parkland may appear different upon arrival depending on the season.

Pets are welcome at the property. A supplementary cleaning fee applies per pet per week and is detailed in the Costs and Services section.

The Zer0Dep Guarantee is included in the rental rate, meaning guests are not required to pay a security deposit either on balance or upon arrival. This guarantee includes EuropAssistance coverage in the event of accidental damage caused to the property during the stay, up to a maximum of 1,500.00€ and subject to the restrictions provided.
