Wine and Italy go hand in hand, with some of the world's most famous elixirs being manufactured here. From Chianti to Prosecco, there is no shortage of delicious wines to try. One of the most interesting is the vino novello in Italy, which is the new wine. There are numerous festivals and feasts throughout Italy, all in celebration of the new wine harvest. This fresh, young red wine is the first wine combing from the grape harvest, with an intense color and fragrance. It is served during the first part of November, and can be made from any local grapes. Some popular grapes that are used include Merlot, Nero d'Avola, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese, for example.

There are several rules that pertain to the vino novello in Italy. For example, it is only allowed to be sold after November 6th of the year of the grape harvest, after midnight.

8. Torre Forese

Torre Forese is a charming tower dating back to the 14th century that has been tastefully restored, preserving its original architectural features. This apartment is set on different levels and offers beautiful frescoed interiors decorated with ancient pieces and antiques. Rich, warm and atmospheric, with lots of use of dark wood, plush fabrics and luxurious decorative elements, the place has a rather romantic atmosphere overall. The tower in which it is situated right in the centre of the medieval town of Figline Valdarno, just 30 km away from Florence, which has its own shops and restaurants to offer, as well as frequent trains for Rome and the rest of Italy. With two bedrooms, and sleeping up to four, this apartment will set you back just €139 per night.

In our final installment about Villa Fabbroni we will be covering the large and luxurious Il Padronale as well as one of the best features of the property, one that will be hard to find in any other villa: Fabbroni’s private restaurant.

Il Padronale

As the largest of the units at Villa Fabbroni, Il Padronale is well suited for a large family or group that wants the charm of Villa Fabbroni but require a larger space. The unit has five bedrooms with four bathrooms, three of which are en suite, and sleeps a maximum of twelve people. Il Padronale also has a private courtyard equipped with garden furniture to enjoy the outdoors, as well as a stone barbecue to grill some delicious Chianina steaks.

San Polo in Chianti
Chianti was originally a very small region consisting of only three small communities near Siena, but was reformed in 1932 to include more area but still in well-defined districts. Many towns suddenly found themselves in a noble wine region and took his honor to heart. San Polo, as well as the Commune of Greve that it resides in, added the suffix of in Chianti to their name. The region around San Polo and Greve prided itself on its contributions to the so-called “Super Tuscans” prior to gaining the “in Chianti” appellation, but many of the wineries jumped at the chance to produce one of the signature wines of Italy.

Environnement exceptionnel! Piscine et installations extérieures parfaites. Logement rustique mais confortable. Petit bémol sur la propreté d'autant plus que les frais de ménage de fin de séjour sont élevés, mais la propreté laissait à désirer. Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas un minimum de base pour la cuisine. Il manque un petit livret d'accueil avec quelques conseils de visites, restaurants aux alentours, ... Ceci ne nous a pas empêché de passer un excellent séjour avec un très bon rapport qualité prix.

Beautiful, peaceful property with ample space. If I had any suggestions for improvement, they would be to have some sort of a welcome kit suggesting where to get groceries, go out to eat, etc. Also, the wifi was spotty at best. I realize many wish to unplug completely at a place like this, but we were using it as a base for day trips in and around Tuscany and the difficult access to maps was sometimes frustrating for planning.

A lovely, tranquil spot with buckets of charm and great facilities. The villa was rustic-feeling but perfectly-functional and well-equipped (full cooking/ kitchen facilities and gas hob; clothes horse and laundry; outdoor tables etc). Bed was comfortable and linen/ furnishings all clean. Owner-operator was readily available for queries and logistical concerns. Excellent supermarkets (especially Co-op) in Figline Valdarno, and close enough for day trips to Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.

Big house, lots of space. Also a nice, private terrace outside with a roof. The complex has a very beautiful view on the surroundings. Quiet and serene agriturismo. Very nice pool. Disadvantages: to go to the swimmingpool, you have to walk 10 minutes, and that walk also includes a very steep hill. Not very handy with three small children. No WIFI in the house itself, only in a WIFI space located near the reception, a 10-15 minute walk on a very steep hill (five minutes further than the swimming pool, the soccer pitch is also located there).Lots of big! spiders, mosquitos and other vermin in the house. Equipment needs some repairs, stove didn't work as it was supposed to, several defect light bulbs. The owner (son of the previous owner?) was not very friendly. No warm welcome with a bottle of wine or olive oil, no information about the agriturismo and surroundings, no possibility to buy freshly baked bread in the morning like we experienced in other agriturismos.

Nice house and the area is beautiful. The walk to the pool requires climbing a steep hill. At the poolside a number of beds are broken. The owner can improve by providing written instructions how to use the equipment as washing machine, provide touristic info about the area, etc. He only took 5 minutes to handover the keys and was leaving.

Regarding the quick key handover, this was probably due to the fact that on this day many guests were checking in at the same time.
Regarding the tourist information and instructions for using the washing machine: the caretaker is always at the guests disposal and they can contact him at any time.

Notre séjour à Montescalari a été fabuleux ! Le propriétaire a été charmant, accueillant et discret. Le domaine est immense, planté au milieu des vignes et des oliviers, il y a beaucoup d'espace entre les maisons. les jardins sont romantiques, arrangés avec tant de goût, il y a des fleurs partout (ça embaume le jasmin et les roses !). Le décors est paradisiaque, le coin piscine incroyable et seuls les hirondelles viennent briser le silence ! Montescalari est un endroit de rêve et rare...

Très beaux dommaines au milieu des vignes et oliviers. Maison très bien entretenus avec tout le confort (hors TV), avec des pièces très grandes et une très belle hauteur sous plafond. This villa was well located for the local towns like Chanti, Radda, Greve and also for Firenze and Pisa. The house was beautifully furnished and the kitchen was large, well equipped (other than no toaster) and easy to use. Nice, clean, clear water pool - excellent in the hot weather we experienced. Bathrooms were very good, however, one tended to get a flooded floor when the shower over the bath was used. It's a family owned property with a property manager on site. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and happy to provide assistance if required. We would absolutely recommend this villa! It's a great place to spend a week enjoying what Tuscany has to offer.

We waren met 2 gezinnen samen in Montescalari 6. Het was een prima ruim appartement, goed schoon. Jammer dat je steeds naar beneden moest met je ontbijtspullen ed. Buiten had je een stuk tuin beschikbaar waar je heerlijk kon zitten. BBQ beschikbaar. Evenals een aantal mountainbikes (die je s avonds wel weer naar boven moest fiesten, pff).
Het zwembad was wat verouderd (tegeltjes lieten los) en best een pittige klim. Wel lekkere ligbedjes en een fantastisch uitzicht. Grote parasols Ook leuk dat er een tafeltennistafel en voetbalspel was. Heerlijk genoten samen me de andere 43 gasten van een traditionele maaltijd. Andrea is een fanastische gastheer. Wijn en olijfolie van het landgoed mee terug genomen. Gemoedelijke rustgevende sfeer. Prima wasmachine in het huisje beschikaar. Bij de receptie WIFI gratis beschikbaar. Wel wat afgelegen (zo'n 3 km van de Chiantiroute). Voor vers brood was je wel 8 km onder weg (en weer terug). Vanaf Filigne binnen een half uur in Florence met de sneltrein vanuit Rome (aanrader). We hebben genoten van de prachtige omgeving. Fam. ter Borg en Steur uit Paterswolde (4 tieners).

Too bad you had to go down each time with your breakfast items etc. Outside there was a lovely piece of garden available where you could sit. BBQ available. Like a number of mountain bikes (which you had to drive back up hill again in the evening though, pffff).
The pool was a little outdated (some loose tiles) and quite a steep climb. But nice sunbeds and fantastic views. Large umbrellas. Also nice that there was a table tennis and football. We enjoyed the delicious traditional meal together with the other 43 guests. Andrea is a fanastische host. We took some wine and olive oil from the estate back home. Warm soothing atmosphere. Excellent washing machine in the house available. WIFI at the reception free of charge. A little remote (about 3 km from the Chianti Road). To get fresh bread you will drive 8 km (and back). From Figline within half houryou can reach Florence by express train (recommended). We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. Fam. Ter Borg and Steur from Paterswolde (4 teenagers).

Wij hebben 2 geweldige weken gehad. Het huisje (7) was heel leuk, met een grote privétuin erbij. Voor onze kinderen was met name het zwembad echt perfect. Het loopt schuin af waardoor ze tot ver in het water konden staan. Onze jongste is pas 4 en dan is het toch fijn om te weten dat je er niet de hele tijd bij hoeft te zijn. De beheerder is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Enige minpuntje waren de spinnenwebben. Verder zou ik iedereen deze locatie aanbevelen. Heerlijk gelegen in het Toscaanse landschap.

It runs diagonally so that they could stand in the water. Our youngest is only 4 and it is nice to know that you do not have to be alert all of the time. The manager is very friendly and helpful. Only downside was the cobwebs but I would recommend anyone this place. Superbly situated in the Tuscan countryside.

The villa was beautiful, it has been wonderfully redone and it is quite comfortable. We still had our doubts from some of the pictures on the site but everything was as nice as it was described (or better!). The location of the villa is great as it feels quite peaceful and secluded but it is just a short drive away from the nearest town and provides easy access to Florence, Siena, Arezzo, San Gimigiano... we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!

The property is very nice, clean, and well managed. The area(pool, football field, ping pong) is perfect. The view and environment are great. 2 slight minus; first, it is slight far from the highway if want this location as a central location to visit Toscany. For relaxing however, it is great. Second, for urbans like us, it was very quiet, since it is very isolaled. So it depends what kind of vacation you look at. But it is a nice place and people are great.

The Website pictures do not do the property justice. Having stayed at various Villas (in this price bracket) throughout Europe, this property is up there with the best. If you enjoy Carp fishing the pond is well stocked.
