Emerged in an olive grove of 5 hectares and far from the noises of the city, always exposed to the sun, at 400 metres in altitude and overlooking the ancient district of Matraia, it offers the charm of living in an ancient convent built in the XIII century; all restored with every possible modern comfort and furnished with antique furniture, it is enhanced by a panoramic swimming pool among the olive groves but its “strong point” is the possibility of being able to relax in its unique lodge, with the soft summer Tuscan nights, the lights of Lucca and the far away blue seas.

On the back of the house, with independent entrance, there is the apartment of the caretaker/garderner. They take care of the cleaning of the pool and the garden and they are there in case of need. They do not interfere with the guestst' privacy of course. Around the house there are no other houses, the nearest property is at approx. 300 mt.

We rented Podere Centone in Matraia for the month of May during which time a diverse range of friends visited. The villa lived upto the website images and the people, the village and the surrounding countryside exceeded our expectations in friendliness, beauty, variety, accessability and almost everything else. We found the owner to be both hospitable, flexible and accomodating. We would recommend this to anyone for a true, relaxing and enjoyable Tuscan experience.

We had a lovely time at Centone. It is a beautiful, well-kept villa and grounds with amazing views of the valley below. The small town nearby had friendly people. The villa might have been hard to find, but the owner, a local man, volunteered to meet us and escorted us to it. He was friendly, offering to make us arrangements at the local vineyard and making restaurant recommendations. Our family had a marvelous time and would love to go back.
