4 km from Reggello: Il Mulino di Ferraie is an old 16th century stone water-mill, renovated with loving care to preserve its original appearance. This place, that our guests have named "the house of the fairies", situated next to a river in a sheltered position, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards which used to attract many poets, writers and artists since the '700 when the English romantic poet William Wordsworth became famous internationally with the ancient Abbey of Vallombrosa and its fantastic forest (visited several times in recent years by His Majesty Prince Charles). The natural garden, along the riverside, offers many open spaces and corners in which you can sit and relax, while the salt water swimming pool is situated in a beautiful corner surrounded by nature, with steps leading down to the river where more adventurous guests can dive under the waterfall. The delightful roof overlooking the river, decorated on the model of a Medici villa, is an ideal spot for outdoor dining and become extremely romantic by candlelight. The room of millstones (on request) is the special hiding place for snacks and relaxing wine tasting, in an atmosphere that takes you back to ancient times. The wood-burning oven, used frequently to make roasts, homemade bread and the grid, are close to the pantry and many guests like to take part in preparation and taste the fascinating local and regional wines from our extensive and well-stocked cellar. Upon request and not included in the price you can: organize cooking lessons, make dinner reservations, itineraries and tours.
