Hike The Passo Di Dante For Incredible Views Over Tuscany

Tuscany isn’t short on beautiful scenery or incredible views and ways to take them in. So many of her towns are built on hilltops, affording the most amazing sweeping vistas over the surrounding landscapes. There are also plenty of buildings all over that you can visit to admire the view from up on top of them. However, if you really want to admire a good view, the best combo is a nice hike to work up a little bit of a sweat, some fresh air and natural surroundings to admire along the way, and then a great view from the top of the trail as a reward for all of your efforts. Like hilltop towns and pretty vantage points, there is not a shortage of great hiking trails to choose from in Tuscany, however, if we were to recommend one today, it would be the Passo di Dante on Monte Pisano. If you have found a vacation rental in Pisa and you’re looking for somewhere to go for a pleasant and not overly challenging hike that boasts history and truly excellent views, then this is just the spot for you!

Monte Pisano has quite a few different routes to choose from and these routes are of various levels of difficulty, meaning that there is probably something to suit everyone, no matter their kind of previous experience with hiking or fitness level. All boast excellent views – with panoramas over the Tuscan Coast to one side of the mountain and across to the Lucca and Apuan Alps on the other side – and traverse through a stunning landscape made up of forestry dotted by ruins of ancient monasteries, pretty little churches, and old farmhouses.

Monte Pisano (also known as the Monti Pisano but not to be confused with the Pisan Hills) is a small mountainous area in north-central Tuscany that separates Pisa and Lucca. A beautiful part of the country that is perfect for hiking, biking, photography enthusiasts, and those interested in different outdoor pursuits, it is the spot to head to if you have found a villa in Lucca or a luxury villa in Pisa and you are looking to get active during your holiday in the area.

Chiodo is a beautiful farmhouse set high in the hills between Lucca and Pisa, with magnificent views on the valley below. It is located very close to the small village of Vorno, renowned for its beautiful 17th century villas that were once summer residences for the oldest noble families in Lucca. The property has been a holiday for many years and was bought by a Dutch family in 2006, who spent more than three years of intensive renovations to transform the villa into an ideal holiday home.

Appena arrivati siamo stati accolti subito dalla gentilissima proprietaria che ci ha accompagnato all'interno della casa. La casa si è rivelata meglio delle aspettative! Davvero molto spaziosa e ben arredata!
Vicinissima sia a Pisa che a Lucca e con il capolinea di un bus che ti porta fino a dentro le mura di quest'ultima.
Come già detto la proprietaria è stata gentilissima e molto disponibile nei nostri confronti! Lo stesso vale per l'agenzia!
Siamo stati molto contenti di aver scelto questa casa.

As already said the owner was very kind and very helpful to us! The same applies to the agency!

Een prachtig mooi verzorgt appartement, voorzien van 2 slaapkamer, 2 badkamers en compleet ingerichte keuken, voorzien van koel- vriescombinatie, vaatwasser, gasfornuis met oven, koffiezetapparaat en zelfs een wasmachine , strijkijzer en strijkplank. Mooi zwembad met ligstoelen en parasols. Je kon zelfs gebruikmaken van een buitenoven en een echte Weber barbecue.
De binnenplaats was gezellig en werd keurig onderhouden net als de rest van het complex.

Nice pool with sun loungers and parasols. You could even use an outdoor oven and a true Weber grill.
The courtyard was cozy and was well maintained as was the rest of the complex.

The staff was invisible, bed in one bedroom was incredibly unstable and squeaky, like lying on a waterbed, when one moves, the whole bed moves, the internet was anoyingly slow. We asked why, and the answer was that it was for free, that was the reason why. For the first time in 10 years we exprienced no change of linnen and no cleaning after one week.

The apartment had almost everything we could wish for, it was almost perfect. The property was wery well kept and have never seen a cleaner pool.

[Counter comment from the owner] There is a new WiFi provider now and the WiFi is now working correctly. Regarding the linens, it's probably a misunderstanding. The sheets and towels are always changed after 1 week but the guests have to pick up the clean set at the reception desk. The bed has been fixed, unfortunately the guests did not inform us during their stay otherwise it would have been fixed immediately.

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay! The compound of Flavia was so recently renovated that we felt like we were in a brand new modern apartment when we were inside and in a charming little village when we were outside. The grounds are beautiful and inviting with a lovely pool and multiple seating areas as well as beautiful views. Check in and out was very easy! Our security deposit was returned in full. I forgot that 2nd floor in Europe is the 3rd floor to Americans. The staircase to our apt. on the actual 3rd floor was very steep and narrow. Had I known that, I’d have asked for a lower floor. I would have felt perfectly safe on the ground floor. All of the apartments, pool, and parking are in what is like a conclave and is secured by high fences and a locked gate. The owners could not have been nicer! We had quite a bit of trouble finding Flavia and would suggest a sign go up in the village as other vacation homes have done. I would also suggest good written directions.
I highly recommend Flavia! You will love the modern conveniences and the charming old world ambience. The location is fabulous – so close to Lucca, Pisa, and an easy drive to Cinque Terre and the Italian Rivera. I would also highly recommend Easy Reserve Vacation Villas as a booking agent. Great website, info, and service.

very happy with the apartment, Flavia 2. Clean (except for some moldy towels left in the washer), and well kept, newly renovated. Place was nice and quiet and perfect for a family get away. I would thoroughly recommend this property to those who have a car. It is a easy drive to both Lucca and Pisa. The apartment was clean and spacious. The pool area is lovely-great for the kids and sitting around at drinks time. The villa was a little bit hard to find - also known as Le Ciucelle-but locals are helpful and friendly. Flavia's daughter speaks the most English but we got by with our Italish fine.

Sehr schöne ruhige uhd funktionell ausgestattete Anlage, besonders für Kinder geeignet. Ein Auto sollte aber unbedingt zur Verfügung stehen. Sehenswürdigkeitn wie Florenz und Sienna, etc. snd alle innerhalb einer Stunde erreichbar. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten vor Ort, ein großer Supermarkt in Richtung Pisa in ca. 10 Minuten erreichbar. Werden in den nächsten Jahren nochmal dorthin fahren.

In der Ferienanlage befinden sich mehrere Sitzgelegenheiten, ein Fußballfeld (im Moment noch, zukünftig soll hier ein weiterer Pool enstehen), ein Grillplatz, ein gesicherter Parkplatz und ein schön angelegter Pool mit Sprungbrett. Der Pool hat zwei unterschiedliche Tiefen: 1,30m und 2.50m.
Die Ferienwohnung befindet sich in einem kleinen Dorf, nah an der Dorfkirche und 50m entfernt von einem kleinen Dorf-Lebensmittelladen, der neben frischem Brot, Wurst und Käse auch diverse andere Haushaltswaren beinhaltet.
In dem Dorf gibt es noch eine kleine Post, einen weiteren Lebensmittelladen, einen kleinen Fleischer, zwei oder drei Pizzerien und am Rande ein Cafe mit leckeren Keksen, Kuchen, Kaffee und Eis.
Die Lage des Dorfes ist sehr gut. Man ist in 15 Minuten in Lucca, in 20 Minuten in Pisa und in einer Stunde in Florenz.
Die Besitzer der Ferienwohnung wohnen auf dem Grundstück, aber in einem separatem Haus. Sie sind nett und freundlich, aber nicht immer präsent.
Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und würden es immer weiterempfehlen.

Beautiful apartment with lots of extras, such as mosquito nets, dish washer, speakerphone, very nice bathrooms, etc.
In the resort there are several seating areas, a soccer field (in the future here an additional pool will be constructed), a barbecue area, a secure parking and a beautifully located pool with springboard. The pool has two different depths: 1.30m and 2.50m.
The apartment is located in a small village, close to the village church and 50m away from a small grocery store, where together with the fresh bread,
sausage and cheese you can find various other household goods.
In the village there is also a small post office, another grocery store, a small butcher, two or three pizzerias and in the "outskirts" a café with delicious biscuits, cakes, coffee and ice.
The location of the village is very good: In 15 minutes driving you reach Lucca, in 20 minutes Pisa and in one hour Florence.
The owners of rental property live nearby, in a separate house. They are nice and friendly, but not always present.
We felt very comfortable here and would always recommend it.

het complex is gelegen in een klein dorpje direct achter de kerk
prachtig, ruim en volledig kwalitatief hoogwaardig gerestaureerd (2011) 3 kamer appartement (woonkamer, keuken, 2 badkamers en 2 slaapkamers) op de 2e verdieping, geen probleem want op de begane grond is er een prima terras waar je kunt zitten en eten
er is een bbq en een pizzaoven aanwezig, een prima zwembad een voetbalveldje en een tafeltennistafel, het complex kent 8 appartementen, in 2012 wordt er waarschijnlijk een nieuw groot zwembad aangelegd
we hebben er een mooie week gehad

Beautiful, spacious and fully renovated high-quality (2011) 3 room apartment (living room, kitchen, two bathrooms and two bedrooms) on the 2nd floor, no problem because on the ground floor there is a great terrace where you can sit and eat. There is a barbecue and a pizza oven available, a nice pool, a football pitch and table tennis, the complex has 8 apartments and in 2012 probably a big new pool will be built. We have had a nice week.

Es war eine tolle Zeit in dieser Gegend. Wir würden jederzeit wieder diese Anlage buchen. Saubere und sehr gut ausgestattete Wohnungen. Die Anlage ist kindgerecht zum Spielen erbaut und sehr gepflegt. Man kann nur + Punkte erteilen. Schöner Pool.
Das einzige was ein bisschen gefehlt hat, sind Kleinigkeiten wir Flyer wo mann den Müll wegbringt ( Zentral im Ort ), Bedienung der Klimaanlage war nur nur Italienisch. Kontakt zum Eigentümer ist sehr verhalten aber trotzdem ok. Man sollte keinen Hotelservice erwarten.
Trotzdem Note 1-2.
Die Gegend ist ein Traum. Zum Wandern , Baden ( Strand ca. 30 min entfernt ). Selbst Segeln und Paragleiter fliegen ist diese Gegend ein Eldorado.

[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] We had a great time in this area. We would book this accommodation again at any time. Clean and well equipped apartments. The location is suitable for children to play and very well maintained. One can only give + points. Nice pool.
The only thing that was missing a little, was some information on how to dispose of the garbage (in the centre of the village),and the manual for the air conditioning was only in Italian language. There is little contact with the owner but still ok. One should not expect any hotel services.
The area is a dream. For hiking, swimming (beach about 30 minutes away). Even sailing and paragliding, this area is a paradise.

Fantastic property. Beautifully furnished. Great pool. Great location for visiting Lucca, Pisa, Florence and the lovely beaches at Viareggio.
My only criticisms? No electric kettle, no potato peeler, no mugs or big drinking glasses. No table mats. No DVD player. Families like/need things like this.
But this are little criticisms. We would come back tomorrow if we could. It is a fantasic group of properties.
