This group of apartments can be found near Certaldo, a renowned central Tuscan town, just a short hop from Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and the Chianti wine region. The property is made up of five apartments in total (one of which is lived in permanently) and a communal area located on the ground floor, which is occasionally used by the family of the owners. Outside there is a fenced off swimming pool. The property is surrounded with fields that the owners use for agricultural purposes.
The apartments are furnished in a simple and rustic style.
From nearby Certaldo it is possible to take a train and easily reach Florence and Siena.
A dirt road leads to the property.
Distances: Certaldo with a variety of shops and train station is 4 km away, Castelfiorentino 6 km, San Gimignano 16 km, Volterra 45 km, Greve in Chianti 45 km, Florence and Siena are both a distance of 50 km away while Pisa and Lucca are roughly 70 km away.

During the Fall, Tuscany is not only flooded with all sorts of delicious food products that have been freshly harvested but it abounds with food festivals. While food festivals do take place throughout the entire year, there are endless options to choose from at this time of the year, in particular. One of the larger and most impressive among these has to be Certaldo’s Boccaccesca festival. Named for and held in honour of the famous 14th century writer and beloved son of the town, Boccaccio, this foodie festival has been taking place since 1999 and sees Certaldo Alto taken over for three to four days each October or late September by all sorts of food stalls selling products and snacks, demonstrations, lessons, talks, tastings, and much more besides. Certaldo Alto is a pretty little medieval town in the Tuscan countryside, perched on a hillside between Florence and Pisa. With old walls, cobbled streets and amazing views over the surrounding scenery, it is a truly beautiful and picturesque place, full of the charm of times gone by. This is only heightened by the presence of the Certaldo Funicular, a funicular railway that links Certaldo Basso to Certaldo Alto, the older and newer parts of the town. Along the way, it offers excellent views over the new town and the surrounding area.

For a peaceful yet fascinating place to visit during your holiday to Tuscany, Castelfiorentino is perfect for the tourists that like to see the little Tuscan towns off the beaten track. Situated between the Arno River valley and the north face of Elsa valley, Castelfiorentino was once a military base because it was of equal distance from the main Renaissance cities of Pisa, Siena and Florence. It was originally built on the side of the famous Via Francigena pilgrim route to facilitate the many travellers who passed by and needed somewhere to eat and rest for the night.

The town’s original name was Castelvecchio, meaning ‘old castle’ because it grew on the site of an ancient Roman castle known as Timignano. It was a huge fortress with doubled layer walls with five gates and a lookout tower. Some of its ruins can still be seen today by tourists. In 1149, the town’s name was changed to Castelfiorentino because of its close relations with the city of Florence.
