We spent five weeks at Casa Lucia from end of May to end of June 2011 and loved every moment of it. The villa is fitted with everything you need, the large pool is great and the view over the valley is stunning, the location very quiet but central, from where we explored to fantastic Chianti region everyday. To come back to this tranquil place after a busy day exploring was always a highlight. Nearby Tavarnelle is a charmning town with all the ameneties you need.

Villa Carol is ideally situated on a hill full of vineyards and cedars and olive trees. From the garden, one has a breathtaking view of the lush Tuscan hills and of the town of Poggibonsi, which is a mere 2 km away from the property. We had a rented car (highly recommended) and we explored Sienna, Florence and the bucolic town of San Gimignano. Villa Carol is situated at a short distance, in the middle of a triangle between these cities and town.
On arrival we were greeted by our hosts, Lucia, Gabriele and their 5 year old daughter Caroline. They are delightful people, very respectful of our privacy and our needs and they were very ready to be of assistance. Our hosts’ English is somewhat limited, but they are eager to please and we managed everything without a problem. Lucia is an excellent cook and one day we asked her to cook a special “Tuscan” dinner for us. Despite our various allergies and dietary restrictions, she managed to create a fabulous feast. I strongly recommend that you try her cooking. It is better than that of many highly rated restaurants. I am a curious type and I initiated chats with Gabriele. He painted many of the paintings found in the villa and he has many interesting stories. He will not disturb you, if you wish to be left alone.
The propriety was quiet and the silence was intermittently interrupted by sound of birds singing and doves doing the ritual, spring mating dance. The infinity pool was inviting, although the weather was a bit cool. The rooms were extremely comfortable and each room has its own bathroom. We were four, but the villa can easily accommodate 6-8 people. Our hosts live on the upper floor and they were very discrete - their presence was hardly noticeable. We had a separate entrance gate for the villa and the layout make it such that we had total privacy.
Shopping for food was easy. A mere 1.5 km away, there is a superstore called PAM and in it one can find everything than one needs. Even the most choosy palates would find fresh produce, pasta, bread, cold cuts, great cheeses, meat products, and DOA (nationally rated) wines, etc
The only downside to this little paradise is the fact that the entrance alley from the front electric gate is at a sharp angle and I managed to scratch my rented car’s door the first time. You need to take a wide angle entry.
One piece of advice: take a GPS because navigating the road signs and the round points can be challenging.
Final comment: All four of us loved our stay at Villa Carol, have fond memories of our hosts and we would be ready to back there in a heartbeat!

Every year we spend a week in Tuscany, but this year our stay there was the most pleasant. The owners of San Donnino are very nice and professional, we have our privacy, nevertheless we know the owners can be reached at any time in case of our need. oue flat, the whole villa and its surroundings, the pool... were really beautiful. We really had a wonderful time and are sure to come back again.

Auch nach diesem Urlaub können wir sagen, die Toskana ist immer wieder eine Reise wert.
Unsere Unterkunft hat ein gutes Maß zu dem Erfolg des Urlaubs beigetragen.
Die Villa wird familiär geführt und so fühlt man sich, wie zu Hause im besten Sinne, sehr gut aufgehoben und betreut.
Uns hat besonders der schöne Blick in das so typische grüne Tal gefallen, fast von jedem Ort des Gartens, ob vom großzügigen Pool, dem Pavillon oder den Sitzgelegenheiten unter den Bäumen. Bei einem Frühstück in der gut ausgestatteten Küche kann man morgens schon den Ausblick genießen und später zeigt der Blick durch das Wohnzimmerfester wie das Schattenspiel im Laufe des Tages die Landschaft immer wieder neu gestaltet.
Die Räume des von uns gemieteten Apartments sind geschmackvoll eingerichtet und fast das wichtigste die Betten bieten hohen Schlafkomfort mit sehr guten Matratzen. In diesem für uns fast zu heißen letzten Mai Tagen mit über 30 Grad haben uns die dicken Mauern der Villa vor der Hitze geschützt. Auch das die Villa ca. 590 Meter über den Meeresspiegel liegt hat die Temperaturen erträglicher gestaltet, hier hatten wir ca. 2-3 Grad niedrigere Temperaturen als in Volterra. Frieren muss man nicht weil die Heizung kraftvoll und schnell die Räume wärmt, das konnten wir in den ersten Tagen ausprobieren wo es noch 20 Grad Außentemperatur hatte.
Für das leibliche Wohl sorgt, je nach Wunsch, das Restaurant im Nachbarhaus, man muss die Pasta probieren ganz nach unserem Geschmack.
Wir haben uns sehr bewusst diese Unterkunft ausgesucht, sie liegt zwischen Volterra 18 km und San Gimignano 14km entfernt und doch gibt es keinen Touristentrubel man befindet sich mitten in der Landschaft. Das Nebenhaus das zur Anlage gehört, das Restaurant und die kleine Kapelle, kath. Gottesdienst jede zweite Woche samstags, viel mehr Bebauung gibt es auf dem Hügelkamm nicht, ruhiger geht es kaum wer also der Stadt entfliehen will, ohne auf Komfort und Luxus zu verzichten, ist hier genau richtig.

Our accommodation has contributed a good measure to the success of this holiday.
The Villa is runned by the family and it feels like home in the best sense, very well looked after and cared for.
We enjoyed the beautiful view, particularly in the so-typical green valley, almost anywhere in the garden, whether from the spacious pool, the gazebo or sitting under the trees. During breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen in the morning you can already enjoy the view and later the glance through the living room gatherings such as the shadows during the day shapes the landscape again and again.
The rooms of the rented apartment are tastefully decorated and, the most important, the beds provide comfortable sleep with very good mattresses. In these last days of May with over 30 degrees °C the thick walls of the villa have protected us from the heat. Also, the villa is about 590 meters above sea level so the high temperatures are more bearable, here we had about 2-3 degrees lower than the temperatures in Volterra. One will not suffer cold either because the heater warms the rooms quickly and vigorously, we could try this durign the first days when it was still 20 degrees outside temperature.
Food and drinks are provides, as desired, by the restaurant next door, you must try the pasta – it's just as we like it.
We have chosen this accommodation very carefully, it is between Volterra 18 km and San Gimignano 14km and yet there is no tourist bustle - you are in the middle of the countryside. The house next door belongs to the restaurant and there is also a small catolic chapel, a church service every other week on Saturdays. There are hardly more buildings on the ridge, it's quiet so if you want to escape the city without sacrificing comfort and luxury, this is the place to be.

we found Villa Elisa very accomendating for our family of 9, It was a great location and easy access to the train in Camucia and to Cortona.There were a few small issues, ie american coffee pot was not so good,a few times the hot water would come and go,and the past thru bedroom was difficult.but the gardens, pool and outdoor eating was awesome!!!,we loved drinking our morning coffee outside. one night we fixed an italian style dinner and ate on the big outdoor table. The owner did not speak any english so it was a bit of a challenge when we checked in,however in looking back thats what made our vacation so wonderful. new and different surroundings, kind people, great food and wine. We had the pleausure of spending a week at Villa Scaletta earlier this month (May 2011). It was wonderful to be surrounded by beautiful anitiques in spacious clean rooms. The sitting area with the great view made our mornings a treat and the lovely Italian kitchen made meal preparation a breeze. We would truly recomend this property to others.

We celebrated my retirement and 60th birthday in this beautiful villa with our children and grandchild. We had a marvellous time and I would recommend it without hesitation.The location is beautiful and peaceful, yet close to restaurants and sights. The owners live next door, but were only seen if we had a query.The pool is lovely and everything is provided for. The layout of the rooms allowed privacy . The bathrooms are of a high standard

We were at the Massi for 7 days, it was grate place for us,my parents who are not so young loved it too, in the middle of the lovely vineyards with grate weather and grate wine,was perfect vacation.
