The Gladiator
When Massimo the Gladiator imagines the Elysian Fields? It's the Orcia Valley, near Siena! This beautiful valley in the south of Tuscany is continously changing. The cornfields are bright green in the spring and turn gold in June.
The English Patient
Some of the most famous scenes of this film were shot at Sant’Anna in Camprena, a former Olivetan Benedictine monastery (15th century) at only 6 km from Pienza, a beautiful town in the Orcia valley. The film was nominated with 9 academy awards !
Stealing Beauty
Bernardo Bertolucci filmed the scenes of "Stealing Beauty" in the summer of 1995 between Florence and Siena, in splendid and unforgettable locations around the Tuscan countryside. Some of the scenes were filmed in Villa di Geggiano, in the Chianti area. Today the owners of this villa produce a very good Chianti wine and offer the space for conferences and other events.
