Travel Through Some Beautiful Towns Nearby Livorno!

Embark on a wonderful trail through some scenic towns in the province of Livorno in Tuscany and enjoy experiencing the food, history and culture that they offer in abundance!

There are plenty of wonderful Tuscany villa rentals in the towns of Castagneto Carducci, Sassetta, San Vincenzo and Bolgheri for you to choose from and enjoy a pleasant stay.

Start the day with a visit to the tourist town of San Vincenzo. This seaside resort has its own beach and is close by to a famous Etruscan archaeological site.


It is located on the Tuscan coastline almost opposite to the picturesque Elba Island where you can engage in some thrilling water sports including surfing, sailing, snorkelling or canoeing. Also worth a visit here is the Rimigliano nature reserve park where you can admire a wide range of protected animal species and well as an exquisite selection of flora and fauna.

Only fifteen minute’s drive from here is the village of Castagneto Carducci. Named after a famous Italian poet called Giosuè Carducci, this picturesque community is built on a hill overlooking the Tirreno Sea. It is of Etruscan origin and tourists will see many of the influences in buildings, culture and cuisine that the ancient civilisation left behind them. Visit the spectacular Palazzo Pretorio in the main square which is a museum that can teach visitors all they need to know about this beautiful area and its history.

Castagneto Carducci hosts many exciting festivals throughout the year that embraces themes like wine, food, music and theatre. This is a town not to be missed along your travels through Tuscany!

Next on the list is the historical village of Sassetta, only ten minute’s drive away. This coastal community is built on a hill, enveloped in a forest of chestnut trees and overlooking the sea. Explore the interesting artwork and artefacts to be found in the church of St. Andrew here or enjoy a fun horse riding or cycling trail around the area that can be booked in the town.

Like many other towns along the Etruscan coastline, there is never a shortage of festivals hosted here, so be sure to check out when they’re held to see if you can enjoy one when you’re passing through here.

Finally, half an hour’s drive from Sassetta is the beautiful town of Bolgheri. Home of some superb ‘Super Tuscan’ wines called ‘Bolgheri’, ‘Ornellaia’ and ‘Sassicaia’, visitors are sure to enjoy tasting a selection of these along with some pungent local cheeses during their stay.

Bolgheri is close to some lovely beaches and has plenty of delicious restaurants and cafes to enjoy an evening in after a day or two of touring around the region.
