Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is the main town in the area and has lots to offer tourists by way of scenery and culture. Visit the amazing castle here dating back to the 12th century. Embark on some beautiful winding road tours through the Apuan Alps from here by car or bike and soak up the fresh crisp air that flows through the countryside area of Garfagnana.

The village of Fabbriche di Vallico is of medieval origin and was traditionally known as the home of blacksmiths and their exquisite metal crafts. Walk across the quaint old ‘mule saddle’ bridge here and admire a little town framed by large forested mountains all around.
Coreglia Antelminelli in Garfagnana is situated on a pretty hilltop only 25 kilometres north of Lucca. There are some very interesting old buildings here worth looking around and around the outskirts visitors can admire some splendid mountain views of Garfagnana from here. Another town worth stopping off in is Sillico which is situated at a height of 700 metres above sea level overlooking the Serchio valley. There are splendid views from here of the Apuan Alps.
