Wondering what to do on your summer holiday to Tuscany this year? Then look no further than this selection of ten fantastic events taking place in this magnificent region between June and September! 1) Palio di Siena – This famous event takes place on the 2nd July and the 16th of August in the city’s Piazza del Campo and draws thousands of spectators each year. This historical celebration dates back to 1633 and is a truly endeared tradition of Siena.

2) The Mercantia Festival - This is hosted in the pretty little Tuscan village of Certaldo in July. This lively gathering features artisan food and craft markets, festival costumes, parades, music, dancing and of course, a delicious public feast!

3) Lucca Summer Festival – Imagine hot sunny days and long starry nights filled with songs and laughter! Then witness it in reality at this magnificent celebration in Lucca.

This is a melody of cultural events including art, literary, cinema and music exhibitions. Most of the festival takes place in the city’s Piazza Napoleone and runs from between the end of June to the end of July. Famous acts that have graced the stages here include Paolo Nutini, Leonard Cohen and Moby!

4) Pistoia Blues Festival – This celebration of Blues and rock music in Pistoia province is a fantastic event to attend on your summer vacation to Tuscany. It takes place between July 10th and 17th in this stunning commune.

Most of the gigs are held in Piazza Duomo in front of the San Zeno Cathedral, which is a truly magical sight when lit up at night. Famous acts that have performed here include Bob Dylan, the Blues Brothers, Lou Reed and David Bowie!

5) Tuscan Opera Festival – This magical event takes place through July and August with gigs taking place across the region in several towns. The main events take place in San Galgano, San Gimignano and the Arsenal of La Spezia. Listen to enchanting music weaving through the air during the days and nights of this popular opera festival!
