The Mediterranean Aquarium in Porto Santo Stefano is a fascinating place which consists of seventeen tanks filled with marine life from the Tuscan coast. The Spanish Fortress Museum in Porto Santo Stefano consists of an interesting Axe Masters museum and the other is a permanent ‘Memorie Sommerse’ exhibition which details the history and process of archaeological research below the sea. There’s a wonderful range of artefacts on display here that were salvaged from the seabed around Giglio Island, Giannutri Island and along the scenic Argentario coastline. Entry is only €2.
The Archaeological Museum in Orbetello provides visitors with a colourful presentation of the fauna and flora that thrive around this unusual lagoon town! The ecosystem here is quite unique and would be well worth learning more about for a few hours, and as a bonus, entry is free!
