Throughout the summer, there is no shortage of festivals in Tuscany – normally centred around food as all good festivals are – but there is one that stands out as just a little different. Vivamus festival, which takes place in the south of the region, is a festival that combines the Italian passion for food and fashion. Events take place in a variety of towns in the area from May through to August each year. The closing event takes place on the first of August 2015 in the picturesque town of Manciano. A three-hour drive from Florence and the bustle of that famous city, the quaint town of Manciano suddenly becomes a cultural hub of activity for the festival and will showcase what the Tuscan countryside has to offer tourists from music to fashion, history to cooking.

Legs of the festival have already taken place in other towns in the area such as Poggio Murella, Saturnia, Montemerano, San Martino sul Fiora, Poderi di Montemerano and Poggio Capanne but they've saved the best and biggest event for last. Named “Donna in Fiore”, it will feature local models on the runway who will be dressed along the theme of flowers and inspired by the locality's incredible flora. With sweet, vintage-inspired pieces, their clothes are bound to impress and are perfect for the summer!
If you're less than interested in fashion, there are plenty of other things to keep you entertained at Vivamus Festival! There will be live music, dancing and comedy to boot. The festival begins at 8pm and will take place in the Piazza del Castello.
A tasting menu of Maremman classics will be available, costing just €15 and €20 if accompanied by wines.
The menu includes Pappa al pomodoro, a tomato and bread salad with organic tomatoes and ancient grain bread, Ciaffagnone, a kind of crepe stuffed with Manciano’s own ricotta, DOP pecorino and calamint, served with a saffron sauce, Maremman beef braised in Rosso di Sovana Doc red wine. Dessert will be a ricotta mousse with organic honey and local saffron. The emphasis is on tradition but also quality and local produce, showcasing what the area has to offer and the outstanding products still being made by the Maremman artisans and farmers.
There are also activities for children from 6pm with face painting and traditional games that include a wind machine, paper airplanes and jacks – so no one in your party will be left out!
