If you’re travelling around Tuscany on your next Italian vacation then why not take a few days to sail out to beautiful rental accommodation Elba Island off the Livorno coast and enjoy visiting some or all of the eight main towns here?

It’s very easy to rent a car on Elba Island to drive around these welcoming tourists communes and driving here means that you can stop off to admire any part of the island you wish and for as long as you want!

Why not begin your day with a car trip to Elba’s largest town called Portoferraio which is located in the central area of the island on the Northern coast. Originally named Cosmopoli after Cosimo I de Medici who was given ownership of it by King Carlo V in 16th century, this fortified town became very prosperous due to its proximity to Elba’s valuable iron deposits.

Then head on towards the important fishing town of Marciana Marina by driving along the magnificent Northern coastline of Elba. It has over 2000 inhabitants, a quaint little marina, an ancient watchtower and two beaches.

Later on why not drive inland towards the sister town of Marciana Marina which is simply called Marciana. This picturesque medieval town is tucked into a mountainous area of Elba, surrounded by chestnut trees. Take a cable car from here up to the top of Mount Capanne or walk along the ancient Via Crucis from the Pisan fortress up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte.

Campo nell’ Elba is situated on the south of Elba Island and is home to the splendid beach of Fetovaia. Then travel eastwards along the southern coast of Elba until you reach the inland town of Capoliveri. This ancient town dates back to Roman times and is quite famous for its delicious wine.

Further up on the East Elba coastline is Rio Marina, once a thriving mining town and now a popular tourist haven. A short distance inland from Rio Marina is Rio nell’ Elba, a charming town tucked into the hills. Go on a scenic day tour of Elba Island and experience the enchanting culture of each town here!
