Selection of gelato in a shop
You can, of course, get ice-cream – or should we say “gelato” - all over Florence and Italy rather easily. However, now that you're visiting Florence, you don't want just any old ice-cream, you want to be surprised, delighted, you want to have your socks knocked right off! Basically, you want gelato so good that you're ruined for the ice-cream back home.

Or is that just us? If you're on the same page when it comes to gelato, though, read on and take note.

Why not find a luxury villa in Florence and visit all of our suggestions? Your taste-buds will thank you later.
Stracciatella, a popular flavour
One of the first suggestions has to be Perchè no!, or “Why not!”, because the name is fantastic and the location is even better for anyone visiting the city as a tourist – especially if it's your first time there. Located between Piazza della Signoria and Piazza della Repubblica, it is near many of the main museums and attractions in the city.

Founded in 1939, this gelateria produces artisanal gelato using all natural ingredients. It even provides vegan and soy options which means everyone can enjoy their tasty ice-creams! With both complex and simple flavours, from matcha green tea to chocolate, there really is something for everyone.
Ice-cream at Grom
If you're after a celebrity favourite, then stop by Edoardo's which Beyoncé and Jay-Z documented visiting while in Florence in May. Like Perchè no!, Edoardo's uses natural ingredients and has a focus on quality, artisanal products. They are also the first certified organic gelateria in all of Tuscany. The store is named after the owners' son and has an emphasis on old-fashioned values and practices that have been lost.

The parlour is designed to give off an old-school 1940s atmosphere from the ice cream in the carapina ice cream boxes, to the walnut furniture, to the counter full of drawers, to the vintage cash register and down to the retro clothing of the staff. It really feels like an old dairy shop.

Grom is another gelato shop that will knock your socks off. The best of ingredients sourced from all over the world and the gelato is produced with a ridiculous level of attention to detail. Originally founded in Turin, Grom has become nationally and internationally renowned with shops all over Italy and a few in locations such as Paris, Hollywood, New York and Osaka.

Now that you know where to go, make sure to find the time for an ice-cream on your next trip to Florence – it will definitely be worth it!
