A ride at Cavallino Matto
Tuscany means culture, art and history, right? Any tourists would feel (and be remiss) if they didn't take in some of the world's greatest landmarks while in the area. However, sometimes, visiting museum after museum, castle after castle or cultural centre after cultural centre can become tiring. This is especially true, both physically and mentally, if you have kids with you on the holiday. The poor things will be exhausted from trying to be respectful and behave themselves! So, now it's time to let your hair down and relax and reward the little ones with some fun. Cavallino Matto, near Livorno, is Tuscany’s biggest amusement park and just what the doctor ordered. Find a holiday rental in Livorno and pencil this into your Tuscan itinerary.
Pirates Bay at Cavallino Matto
The park covers an area of sixty thousand square metres and has recently changed hands. Originally, however, it was set up in 1967 and was actually a stables. During the summer months, they offered pony trekking throughout the vast pine woods near the beach of Livorno and it was originally called ‘Parco Gulliver’. It also included crazy golf, ping pong tables, a bar, slides, swings and was free to enter. Over the years, this business grew and expanded until it was the biggest amusement park in the region and became beloved by locals and tourists alike. It's reputation only increased over time. In 2006, Cavallino Matto was purchased by the Manfredini family who are well-established and known in the funfair business and who have helped grown the business further.
Seaside at Livorno
Cavallino Matto has a variety of rides, as one might expect, but they also have magic and water shows throughout the day. The water show is only in high season but there's lots to do on a daily basis besides that! The park has four rollercoasters, gentler rides for younger kids such as a carousel and aquatic canoe ride, a pirate boat, an African adventure and gold mine ride. There's even a selection of restaurants and fast food outlets to leave you worry-free and able to enjoy your day without having to do or plan anything. If you prefer a picnic, however, there are designated areas for this as well!

Cavallino Matto is open throughout most of the year with limitations in the winter months.

It is open on certain weekends only in March, April and October, every day from mid May until mid September. Admission is reduced for those over 65 years of age and under 10 years and those shorted 90cm are free of charge but cannot go on some of the rides. With an emphasis on family and fun, it offers a great day out in Livorno, Tuscany!
