Arguably, the main cities of Versilia are Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta, Camaiore, Massarosa, Seravezza and Stazzema, although Seravezza and Stazzema are not actually located along the coast but on the hills that slope up to the Apuan Alps.
Each of these cities has something unique and special to offer a visitor. Pietrasanta is Versilia’s artistic capital, famous for Michelangelo's time working the local marble in the 16th century, and is located a little further inland while Marina di Pietrasanta is a family-friendly and pretty little village situated right on the coast.
Camaiore boasts a beautiful typical historic center and Romanesque architecture and is also famous for its history of cast-iron artisans. Some are even still active to this day.
