Ivan Bruschi was an internationally famous antique collector from Arezzo whose last wish was to establish a foundation to spread the love of art, antiques and culture. His wish was granted and the Bruschi Foundation has since become a hugely important patron of culture in Arezzo.
One of the greatest feats of the foundation was the establishment of the House-Museum of Ivan Bruschi which houses Bruschi's personal collection, set within the 13th-century Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo located in the heart of Arezzo.
One of the greatest feats of the foundation was the establishment of the House-Museum of Ivan Bruschi which houses Bruschi's personal collection, set within the 13th-century Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo located in the heart of Arezzo.

The museum has a collection of artworks and objects from all over the world spanning a period from the prehistoric era to modern times. Bruschi's interests and tastes were varied and eclectic and the museum is home to pieces from Africa, Asia and Central America and all kinds of objects from sculptures to furniture, glass, tools, clothing and books. It is the treasury of jewellery and precious objects, however, that might impress visitors the most. All kinds of items of jewellery are represented; rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches. Pieces from the Middle Ages make up a large percentage and contemporary jewellery from the late 19th and early 20th centuries is particularly well documented. There are even ancient pieces such as a Roman gem cutter and Assyrian stone seals.

At the moment, however, the focus of the collection is placed firmly on a portion of this jewellery collection with a special exhibition called “Le Età Dell'Oro” (“The Age Of Gold”). Running since the 5th of August, it does not close until the 7th of May 2017 and presents the work of Piero della Francesca through objects and a special innovative video guide. Just find a villa with air-conditioning in Arezzo and drop by this unique exhibition.
Presented is an exhibition in the format of a high resolution video, animated with images and details from the most important work of Piero della Francesca. The highlight, however, are the amazing copies of the jewelry represented in della Francesca's artwork: a series of pieces that were executed by Giulio Manfredi in 1992 and which are now an integral part of the museum's collection of treasures. After almost 25 years since the last time these wonderful works were shown, the Casa Ivan Bruschi has them on exhibition in honor of the 600th anniversary of the birth of Piero della Francesca.
For art and jewellery lovers visiting Tuscany, this exhibition is a must-see.
