Follonica is a coastal city that is often seen as the “Miami” of Tuscany, with its modern, busy city centre that stretches to the shore and the bright colours of the stark white buildings, blue sea, golden sand and colourful beach umbrellas. It has a vibrant nightlife, plenty for the kids to see and do and, best of all, some excellent beaches. Just find a villa with pool in Follonica and discover the wonderful stretches of coast that the city has to offer.

Named for a nineteenth century tower that is positioned in the area, it is a pretty beach with pristine golden sand, coastal dunes, pines and a shallow, perfect for kids. Located in the special nature reserve of the Parco Costiero della Sterpaia, the view is spectacular and the atmosphere is relaxed. With two sections, one with more facilities and the other which is wilder, it has the best of both worlds. There are three paid "bagni" facilities with parasols and beds and a "spiaggia libera", which is an open free public beach. Less built-up and manic than other beaches, it is a perfect spot for calm relaxation, romantic dates and quiet family days out.

Torre Mozza beach is located just 3km from the center of Follonica and is another beautiful beach named for an ancient tower.

It also has both free beaches and bathing establishments but expect it to be a lot busier as it is more famous and iconic. It is known as one of the best Tuscan beaches in the Gulf of Follonica. Home to the distinctive 16th Torre Mozza, it also boasts an old Roman road that is now partially submerged and is visible about 10m out from the shoreline and warm water where you can easily spot octopus, sea bass, sea bream, salps and other sea creatures.
