Then, the delicious food and wine that can be found wherever you turn only add another layer of romance! And on top of this? Well, there is an endless list of romantic activities to enjoy while exploring the region! Here is our list of the top things for couples to do once they have browsed our Tuscany Villas and are looking to get sparks flying during an idyllic getaway in this especially stunning part of Italy.

1. Go Wine-Tasting
Those who choose a vacation rental in Chianti will have their pick of wineries to visit and a day driving through the lush Tuscan countryside, touring a vineyard, sampling some wines and being guided through the tasting, and maybe trying some local food products or a meal as well is exactly our idea of a perfect date. For serious wine-lovers and those with less knowledge alike, a wine-tasting experience is a great way to learn more, try some delicious wines, and make wonderful memories with the one you love! We have a whole section on our blog with information about various wineries throughout Chianti and Tuscany so be sure to click through and find the best option for you!

2. Enjoy some incredible chocolate
In addition to fine wine, Tuscany produces some truly incredible chocolate and the two pair perfectly for a romantic atmosphere and a feast for the senses. In fact, Tuscany is where you will find the so-called, “Chocolate Valley,” where most of the best chocolate in Italy and some of the best in Europe is made. Located between Pisa, Pistoia and Prato, this is an area where a large number of artisanal producers are located and where specialist shops can be found. For those with a sweet tooth or looking to treat their lover with some extra-special chocolate this Valentine’s, it is a wonderful place to pick up some remarkable examples. Find a villa in Pisa and then come shop in Agliana, where Roberto Catinari opened his legendary chocolate shop using his experience studying for decades under Swiss chocolatiers 30 years ago; or in Pontedera, where you’ll find the headquarters of historic and world-famous brand Amedei; or in any of the other endless and brilliant chocolate shops in this part of the region.

3. Take in the most beautiful views in the region
We recently dedicated a whole post to some of the most famous and lovely sights and views in Tuscany (which is a hard list to narrow down, let us tell you!) so that’s a great place to start if you are looking to put together an itinerary of gorgeous scenes to take in while on a romantic getaway in Tuscany. Seriously, though, you cannot underestimate how big a part the scenery and surroundings of Tuscany can have to completing the perfect atmosphere of a couple’s retreat. Be sure to slow down and to take it all in and smell the roses as you make magical memories with the one you love.

4. Visit Florence’s rose garden
Speaking of stopping and smelling the roses... Roses, in particular, have long been the blooms associated with romantic love and those who find a luxury villa in Florence and are coming for a getaway with their partner in the city should not only stop and really soak in their lovely surroundings but they should also make a point to visit Florence’s favourite rose garden. Of course, depending on the time of year in which you visit, there may be more or less roses blooming at any given time. However, you are still guaranteed some pretty views in the Giardino delle Rose, or Rose Garden, as it is located in the Oltrarno district of Florence, just below the Piazzale Michelangelo, and boasts a wonderful panorama over the city. Dating back to the 19th century, the garden is home to an astonishing 1200 botanical varieties and a whopping 400 different species of roses and is open to the public daily until sunset for free.

5. Go for a soak in a natural hot spring
Once you’ve wandered around - from wineries, to chocolate shops, to pretty views, to gardens - you might be feeling a little bit tired. If this is the case then Tuscany, once again, has the answer! Home to countless towns with natural hot springs and spa resorts that have been built up around them like the stunning town of Saturnia, Tuscany is the ideal place for a truly relaxing getaway with the one you love! As with the wineries, we have a long list of different spas and spa towns that we have previously covered on our blog so head to the spa section to find the right one for you and then come and unwind together on holiday in Tuscany!
Tuscany is basically perfectly designed for holidays for two so whether you’re planning a romantic getaway for Valentine’s itself or are looking to gift your love (and yourself) with the promise of a vacation together in the future then browse our vacation rentals in Tuscany today and have a perfectly atmospheric trip to look forward to!
