Have you left it late to book this year’s big summer vacation? Well, don’t worry if you have because, while summer is in full swing with only a few weeks left to go, we have been saying for the last few years that September is summer!
For the first couple of weeks, certainly, a villa in Tuscany in September comes with almost all of the benefits of a summer getaway while also having some added bonuses. Here’s why we believe September is just as good of an option as summer for a dream vacation in Tuscany:

1. The Weather
August can be notoriously hot in Italy, which doesn’t suit everyone – a sun holiday is all well and good but there is such a thing as too much sun! While temperatures will begin to drop, especially towards the end of September, much of the month will remain pleasantly warm and more suitable for getting out and exploring the region. If you want to hike the famously lovely landscapes of rolling green hills in Tuscany or wander the historic cities like Lucca and pretty little towns of the region like Volterra, the milder climes of September will be much more pleasant than the August heat. Plus, it will still likely be warm enough to enjoy a villa with a pool in Tuscany or a vacation rental on the Tuscan Coast. You are more likely to get some rain but the trade off will be more than worth the risk for many and you may get lucky and get those perfect temperatures without any rain at all!

2. The Cost
As it is the peak tourism season in the summer months, flights and vacation rentals tend to cost the most at this time of the year. However, as you get into September and into the off-season months, prices begin to lower. So, if you want to stretch your budget that little bit further or you simply love a bargain, September is a great time to book a holiday rental in Tuscany!
3. The Crowds (or lack thereof)
Continuing on from the last point, the reduced number of visitors when you go from summer to September means that you’re less likely to have to queue for attractions for ages, compete with other visitors for good views, or generally share spaces with quite so many other guests. For those who prefer peace and quiet, therefore, you can’t beat September for a getaway in Tuscany. Plus, it is still too soon for things to start closing for the off-season so you’ll likely be able to enjoy just as many attractions, cafes, beach clubs, and more as those coming during the summer – all of the good things without any obstacles to your rest and relaxation.

4. The Availability
We have a lot of really popular villas in Tuscany that boast the most amazing buildings, interiors, gardens, pools, locations, amenities, and more but the most remarkable among them often book up really fast, especially for the summer months. If you’re planning on visiting in September, though, you are more likely to find availability at one of these extra-special gems and, again, at a lower price point than you would find during the summer. Book for September and have even more incredible options to choose between!
So, if you still haven’t had a chance to get away, don’t fret because we think September really has almost all of the charms of summer, plus booking a vacation rental in Tuscany in September has some extra bonuses. Come and experience it for yourself this year.
