Pergine Valdarno is a hilltop town that comprises of little villages and hamlets that clustered together over the centuries. Close to other tourist towns like Laterina, Montevarchi, Civitella and Terranuova Bracciolini, Pergine Valdarno is a small yet beautiful place to walk around. It’s located 50 kilometres south-east of Florence and 15 kilometres west of Arezzo town.

Grosseto town is an enchanting commune in the heart of the Maremma area in southern Tuscany. Located only 14 kilometres from the coast, Grosseto is a big town with lots of cultural activities and attractions to entertain tourists. It’s situated on a flat plain and is filled with an interesting collection of religious civil and military buildings. A hexagonal wall envelops the historic centre of Grosseto.

Monticchiello di Pienza is a quaint little village that makes up a district of the town of Pienza in Siena province. The tiny population of Monticchiello di Pienza amounts to just over two hundred inhabitants yet there is still plenty for tourists to do and see here.

Start off your visit to Monticchiello di Pienza with a walk around the Roman-Gothic style church of Saints Leonard and Christopher which overlooks the castle here. Monticchiello di Pienza is well known for its theatre productions which were created here by a man called Jerzy Grotowski.

If you have rented a car and wish to explore some of the splendid towns on Elba Island for a day then why not embark on this delightful trail? Begin your day in Elba’s largest town called Portoferraio which is located on the northern coast of the island.

Originally named Cosmopoli, this is a magnificent fortified town full of history and culture. In the afternoon, drive along the northern coast of Elba, heading in a western direction and in less than half an hour, you’ll arrive at the charming fishing town of Marciana Marina.
