Vespa

People zipping around town on Vespas, immaculately dressed, past historic buildings and pretty piazzas, on the way to meet friends for coffee. It is one of those idealised images of Italy that many of us have and there is no doubt that, no matter how accurate a picture this may or may not be, Vespa is one of the most iconic products to come out of the country. It is intrinsically Italian. If you are a bit of a Vespa fanatic, there is surely one Italian destination that will have decided itself: Pontedera in the Province of Pisa, where you'll find the Piaggio Museum. Piaggio is the fourth largest producer of scooters and motorcycles in the world but it was the world renown of the Vespa that put the company on the international map.

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marqués de Dalí de Púbol, known as Salvador Dalí, was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Figueres, Catalonia in Spain and is one of the most famous artists of all time. Having some of his work on display is always a bonus at a gallery or museum that is sure to draw crowds.

A certain museum in Tuscany, meanwhile, is putting on an exhibition that is a must for any and all Dalí fans who have found a luxury villa in Pisa.

The Palazzo Blu will host “Dalí. Il Sogno del Classico” (“Dalí – The Dream of the Classics”) from the 1st of October 2016 until the 5th of February 2017, Monday to Friday 10am - 7pm and Saturday to Sunday 10am – 8pm.

Once you have found the perfect luxury villa in Pisa and are planning your next visit, you will probably do some research into things to see and do while you are there.

In a city with such a famous and iconic monument, other sights and attractions can sometimes get overlooked. Such attractions are devoid of the long lines and crowds of tourists and allow you to have a completely different experience of the city to the one that most people.

One attraction that is a perfect example of this is the Museum of Human Anatomy, which is housed in the Medical School of Pisa. Pisa was one of the first university towns to be provided with an anatomy school and began with the support of Cosimo I dei Medici, who had an anatomical theatre built in the Via della Sapienza.

We almost all had that phase where we were completely and utterly obsessed with dinosaurs, right? Some digested encyclopedias of knowledge as if they were a comic book, others smashed plastic figurines together in back yards and some visited every museum in sight while others watched Jurassic Park over and over again. For nineties kids, it was pretty much a rite of passage as a child but everyone can appreciate the might and majestic beauty, as well as the intrigue and mystery, of these long gone and long dead creatures.

Dinosaur skeletons are awe-inspiring and reconstructions fascinating and you'll find both in Pisa for the next few weeks. If you're looking for an activity to please everyone in the group – across all ages – find a villa with pool in the Pisa area and head to the "Terra dei Giganti", or “Land of Giants”, exhibition.
