Villa Margherita was great - especially the pool. Nice and quiet and out of the way. I would suggest that the owners put a map to the nearest train station, Sant'ellero and a timetable for the trains.
Also reccommend the local attractions esp the monastary nearby - beautiful.

We had a wonderful stay at San Donnino. One of the best parts about it was the owner. He speaks excellent English and is very happy to provide information about life in Tuscany. Often when travelling you can feel that you don't understand what makes a place "tick" but being able to talk to the owner over a glass of wine gave us a great insight into this area of Italy.

The property itself was very clean and spacious and the grounds and pool lovely and well cared for. The location is close to Siena and does require you to hop in the car anytime you want to go out.

The property's house wine was great and very inexpensive.

The only negative was that the apartment was supposed to have wifi but in reality, the only way you could get wifi was to either sit in the toilet which was the closest place to the router or to sit in the little alcove outside of where the main computer is situated. Given that my husband had to work whilst we were away, this was a bit of an inconvenience.

If you're into views you can't do better than L'uccelliera, on a promontory with sea views in both directions and a green expanse of terraced hills behind. The enormous garden means you can wander off on your own and read or paint or whatever you want to do without running into other tourists - of whom there are hordes in Monterosso. Yet it's only 10 minutes walk down - or 15 up - if you need anything. The house is full of character and interesting objects. It was perfect.
