Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.

At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A gravel path winds through the grounds, connecting the various outdoor areas and leading to the iron gate that provides access to the pool terrace. The veranda, housed within the original barn structure, is enclosed with windows and fully equipped for al fresco dining, making it an ideal space for shared meals in any season. A dedicated barbecue area is conveniently located near the main entrance, perfect for outdoor cooking and casual gatherings.
The non-heated infinity pool is positioned in front of the villa and commands a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Rectangular in shape, it measures 12 by 6 metres with a constant depth of 1.4 metres and features salt purification, Roman steps for easy access, and internal lighting for evening use. The pool terrace is partially paved with terracotta and is equipped with sunbeds, deckchairs, umbrellas, and an outdoor shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October. It is worth noting that the photographs of the property were taken in spring, and therefore the blossoming of flowers and the colour of the garden grass may differ from what you find upon arrival.
Unit Layout
Il Cerreto offers a generous and flexible interior configuration spread across 2 floors, accommodating a maximum of 11 guests across 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The layout is particularly well suited to larger groups, as certain areas of the villa can function independently, offering both shared communal spaces and private retreats.
On the ground floor, the main entrance opens into a hallway with a staircase leading to the first floor. This level includes a living room featuring a television and a billiard table, a bathroom with shower, and a hallway with direct garden access. The ground floor also houses a kitchen with external access serving the veranda, as well as a laundry room with its own external access.
On the first floor, a large dining room is connected to the main kitchen. There are also 2 open-plan areas, each comprising a kitchenette and a living room, and each equipped with an external staircase that provides independent access to the property. The sleeping accommodation on this floor consists of 3 double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom with shower, as well as 2 additional double bedrooms, one of which features a divisible bed, and 1 single bedroom. 2 further bathrooms with shower complete the first floor. Please note that all fireplaces throughout the villa are ornamental.

Upon arrival, you follow the access road to reach the covered parking area, from which a few stone steps and a winding path lead you up to the house and the pergola, where a dedicated outdoor dining area invites al fresco meals with a view. Behind the house, a wood-fired oven and a brick barbecue provide the perfect setting for authentic outdoor cooking experiences. In a particularly scenic position, a Sky Bench has been placed to offer an ideal vantage point from which to admire the sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The non-heated swimming pool is situated in a lower area of the grounds, accessible from the lawn or by descending stone stairs. Rectangular in shape and divided into 2 basins, the pool measures 12x6 meters in total, with a maximum depth of 1.20 meters in the large basin and 40 cm in the smaller one. The small basin is equipped with a hydromassage feature, while the pool itself is lined with PVC and fitted with a Roman staircase for easy access and internal lighting. A chlorine purification system maintains water quality throughout the season.
