Every year Florence becomes the home to one of Italy's oldest and famous arts and craft fair. The Mostra Internazionale dell'Artigianato has been going for over 70 years and draws together, arts and craftsmen from all over the World. What makes this event so special, in my opinion, is the way all of the artisans are organized in such a unique way - Arts and crafts from ourside of Italy (organized by country), Taste, Visions, Special exhibitions, health and beauty, world cuisine - allowing you to walk around and get a sense of the differences in the arts and crafts of the different world cultures.
The best way to get to the Fortezza da Basso, from the centre of Florence is to walk - it's five minutes by foot from the main train station. If you're coming in by car, parking around the venue is no easy task. It might be worth parking the car in the area of Stazione Leopolda.
