Property Description

Ancient watch tower dating back to the year 500 which has been recently restored preserving its original architectural features and has been turned into a charming holiday house. This unique property is in the heart of the Maremma Natural Preserve in peacefully and isolated location, on a large 200-hectare estate bordering with the see-side. This house is the only watch tower of the natural preserve where it is possible to live in.
The last floor of the house offers amazing panoramic views extending from the Tuscan islands and Corsica in the distance (visible on clear days) to the beautiful hills of Maremma region.
The interiors are welcoming, furnished in a simple and rustic style. The house is set on 3 floors connected by a stone staircase. The outside offers large natural areas with Mediterranean bushes where you can meet deers and wild-boars.
A small pebble beach accessible by car is approx. 3 km away and in walking distance there are small bays and creeks where you can go for a nice swim.
This property is ideal for those who search for total privacy and tranquility surrounded by the beautiful natural landscape of the Maremma region.
The access to the property is via 7 km of an unpaved road not suitable for sports cars.
Distances: Talamone with marina, groceries, bar and restaurant 9 km away, beaches (windsurf, kite-surf facilities) 9,5 km, Fonteblanda with general stores 11 km, Porto Santo Stefano 33 km away, Porto Ercole with nice marina 38 km away, Pitigliano (Etruscan village) 77 km, Siena 115 km away, Roma (airport) 180 km, Florence 183 km, Pisa (airport) 190 km away.
At guests’ disposal: large outside area. Guests staying at Torre Rivolta can reserve and enjoy use of the facilities of a camping situated 7,5 km away such us bar, restaurant, swimming-pool., tennis court, volleyball ground, basket, archery, use of washing-machines and dryers. This camping also offers a private beach with windsurf and kite-surf facilities.
Extra Services (to be paid on the spot): breakfast, light lunch and dinner service available in a small “agriturismo” 2 km away. Horse-back riding and fishing facilities.

While the view from the tower is absolute fantastic, the furniture are pretty old and not well maintained (specially the kitchen and the dining room): considering the distance from the first village (Talamone) and that the guests might decide to have dinner and/or lunch in the tower instead of driving the 7km path, the kitchen should be far better equipped. Always considering the isolation of the tower, we would also recommend the landlords to let the guest find upon their arrival at least a bottle of water. Beds and toilets are OK. The road to reach the tower needs also some urgent works of consolidation. I'd suggest to consider a 4x4 type of car. Please consider that with current road condition it can take up 30 min from national road to the Tower (approx 7km).

Ein unvergesslicher Urlaub in der Toskana!!!

Als erstes waren wir nicht sicher was uns erwartet, aber alle unsere Erwartungen wurden mehr als übertroffen. Der Turm befindet sich auf einem Privatgrundstück (ca. 2km Bergauf vom Hauptanwesen), welches trotz der teilweise unbefestigten Strasse, auch mit einem normalem Auto recht gut zu erreichen ist. Nach der herzlichen Begrüssung wurden wir zum Turm begleitet und ab dem ersten Moment fing das Geniessen an. Kaminholz war vor dem Turm aufgestapelt, sogar eine Flasche Wein und hausgemachte Zitronenmarmelade wurde zur Begrüssung übergeben.

Die Ruhe, die Aussicht und die Natur um den Turm herum, haben uns den Alltag schnell vergessen lassen. Den ganzen Tag kroch ein einmaliger Wild-Pfefferminz- und Wild-Rosmarinduft in unsere Nasen und nur der Wind und Wasser waren zu hören. Bei gutem Wetter hat man im Richtung West – Südwest auch die schönen Inseln Giglio, Elba und Montecristo gut sehen können, oder wenn man sich umdreht hat man ein Superblick ins Landesinnere gehabt.

Wir haben auch die Möglichkeit genutzt zu Fuss den Naturpark zu erforschen und den privaten Naturstrand zum Baden und Sonnen zu nutzen, also Wanderer oder Mountainbiker kommen auch auf Ihre Kosten ;-)

Der Ausflug nach Talamone, zum Naturstrand von Albarese und zu warmen Quellen von Saturnia ist auch ein Muss.

Ansonsten kann man abends den Tag ruhig ausklinken lassen, nach dem Sonnenuntergang dann entweder vor dem Kamin das Feuerknistern geniessen, oder in der Turmspitze einfach chillen.
