It encompasses several little villages and hamlets that date back to medieval times and many remnants of their past still exist today in the form of fortresses, bridges, old gateways and beautiful churches.

This was a very important centre for trading between Florence and Arezzo and so thrived for centuries.
Within Capolona itself, why not begin your tour here with a walk around the majestic castle of Valenzano.

A short distance from Capolona is the charming ancient Pieve di Santa Maria Maddalena. It’s richly decorated with paintings, frescoes and sculptures and would be well worth a visit.

One of the internal villages that come under the municipality of Capolona is called Bibbiano. It was built on a hilltop and still displays much of its original medieval architecture, including a striking wall that still surrounds it.

Capolona could be easily explored in its entirety within a day so why not buy some tasty bread, cheeses, salamis and perhaps a few pastries to create a picnic lunch to savour on the grassy outskirts of the town.

Capolona is the perfect place to visit if you want to experience authentic Tuscany so make it part of your travel plans today!
