Tuscany's Top Spas III

Terme di Sorano
Continuing our listing of the best spas in Tuscany, we have two more examples of Tuscan spa towns with unique and scenic settings, wonderful facilities and long histories.

After long days of museum hopping, trying out all of the local cuisine and delicacies, browsing shops, and dashing around, there could be no better way to fully relax and make the absolute most of your holiday in Tuscany than by visiting one of the region's famous spas, going for a soak and maybe getting a massage or facial while you're at it.

Enjoy the Tuscan pace of life, slow things down and make some time for yourself and you are sure to return from your holiday completely revitalised and relaxed.
Monsummano
Monsummano Terme in Pistoia is a Tuscan spa town that is home to a famous cave which was formed thousands of years ago and is now a world-renowned attraction. The Grotta Giusti is the third largest cave in Europe and is so beautiful that the composer Giuseppe Verdi dubbed it “the eighth wonder of the world” but the biggest boon of the cave is actually the natural Turkish bath formed inside it. For this reason it has continuously been named as one of the best spas in the world. The cave was found in 1849 when labourers working in a lime quarry above Monsummano found an opening behind a large rock. News spread and experts and the curious alike turned up to see the caves. Seeing the interest, treatment rooms were opened, which eventually became the present day Grotta Giusti Spa. Its reputation spread internationally and it attracted royalty and celebrities alike. The complex that exists at the Grotta today also offers an outdoor therapeutic spa pool with a waterfall and hydromassage, a well-being centre and a spa centre with mud therapy, ozonising baths and inhalation cures. Day tickets for the Grotta cost just €40.00 and as it is housed next to a hotel with restaurants, it makes for the perfect day out once you have found a holiday villa in Monsummano Terme.
Sorano Town
Terme di Sorano, a village not far from Sorano, is another great spa town. Here, you'll avoid the more intense crowds that can be found in other spa towns and you'll be able to enjoy state-of-the-art facilities. While the spa complex of Terme di Sorano was only opened in 2006, the area has been enjoyed by thermal spa lovers for centuries previous to that. The spa is harmoniously integrated into the surrounding landscape of forests, pastures and farms and the historic village and is the perfect place for strolling through the beautiful landscape and getting treatments in the spa. I can't imagine anything more relaxing, can you? Just find a holiday rental in Sorano and experience it for yourself!

As if you needed another reason to love Tuscany, these two spa towns are just a selection of the endless choice in stunning spa destinations that can be found throughout the region.
