Learn About Even More Tuscan Wines

Wine
If you have found a vacation rental in Tuscany and are planning on exploring the region, you can't forget to thoroughly discover the culinary landscape. Food and wine are integral to the Tuscan experience and we have discussed wines and vineyards and wine shops on this blog on several occasions. However, we thought that it was only fitting to finally put together a guide to the wines of Tuscany; the ones you won't want to miss and where to find them. Here is our guide to more of the Tuscan wines that you need to try!

5. Bolgheri

Bolgheri is a wine area located in the Province of Livorno that has become internationally known since 1974, when, in an event organised by Decanter, a 6-year-old Sassicaia won over an assortment of Bordeaux wines.
Before then, they were largely anonymous producers of ordinary white wines and rosés but this event transformed the reputation of the wines of the area. While still not incredibly well-known internationally, this wine is well worth trying out during your time in Tuscany.

6. Vernaccia

This white wine is produced in and around the hill town of San Gimignano and has been considered one of the finest whites in the country since the Renaissance. It was the first Italian wine to be awarded Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status in 1966 and was upgraded to a DOCG. With such prestige, it's bound to whet your curiousity, right? Just find a vacation rental in San Gimignano and try it for yourself.

Of course, there are many more wonderful Tuscan wines to enjoy while exploring the region, so be sure to read on to the rest of the series for our other picks.
