Chianti Cashmere Goat Farm, as mentioned in the last article, is a small farm in the Chianti region of Tuscany that was established in 1972 by Nora Kravis. From there it has gone on to become a model for sustainable farming and small business and has Europe-wide renown. It is also a wonderful place to spend a day learning about sustainable farming, petting the goats, shopping incredible quality garments and enjoying rural Tuscan living. Once you have a luxury villa in Florence or a villa with pool in Siena, why not take a break from urban pursuits and pay a visit to this fascinating farm for yourself?
In the last post, we mentioned the history of the farm and how it got to where it is today but we didn't have the space to extrapolate on the experience of visiting the farm itself! Visits can be readily organised and one of the major attractions is the farm shop and its beautiful garments.

The first Cashmere goats arrived in 1995 and there was a long process required to learn about hand-made cashmere creation and a tough trial and error period seeking out artisans to turn this incredible fabric into beautiful items of clothing. Now, between the farm and the hand-picked artisans, there is over 20 years of experience to draw on.
The farm shop stocks sustainable cashmere yarn (for those who want to take this high-quality material and do with it as they wish), hand-woven scarves, shawls and blankets, and hand-knitted newborn hats, socks, blankets and booties.
In 2017, they finally released a complete line of hand-woven, hand-knitted or hand-sewn accessories and home furnishings ranging from skeins of their own 100% sustainable cashmere yarn and patterns to go with them. There are also both options to buy ready-made pieces or to order custom-made pieces to match your own decor.
Everything is one-of-a-kind, made in Tuscany, and are all made from natural and renewable sources from their own cashmere to 100% Italian Sheep's Wool, Italian Linen and Italian Hemp. They carefully monitor their sellers and document every step of the production process to guarantee the utmost quality and total traceability of everything that they sell.
Beautiful, unique and ethical, their line of products is reason enough to visit but read on to learn about the last (and, in some ways, the best) reason to pay a visit the next time that you find yourself in Chianti: the goats!
Don't forget that we are the best website for Tuscan villas to rent on the market so, if you're planning a holiday to Tuscany, be sure to check out Tuscany-villas.it!
