6) Terre di Siena Festival – This marvellous events runs from June to September, most of which takes place in Siena city with some others hosted in surrounding towns and villages. 1) Palio di Siena – This famous event takes place on the 2nd July and the 16th of August in the city’s Piazza del Campo and draws thousands of spectators each year. This historical celebration dates back to 1633 and is a truly endeared tradition of Siena.

Only forty kilometres south-east of Pisa is the little town of Lajatico which sits on a hilly terrain at the opening of Val di Chiana.
