Country House Lo Spigo is a traditional Tuscan country house, located 405 m above sea level, converted from an authentic 19th century barn. It was acquired and completely renovated by the current owner who, while respecting the structure with its original window ventilation grilles and wooden ceiling beams, has modified it, transforming it into a welcoming country house with beautiful oak floors, air conditioning, comfortable bedrooms and well-equipped living areas. Embellishing the house is the beautiful surrounding garden, where the unmistakable Chianti hills, dotted with old borghi and expanses of vines, frame the wonderful patio which, in front of the house, contains the fully-equipped pergola and the swimming pool, surrounded by greenery and olive trees and mellowed by the scent of lavender bushes. Located just outside the medieval borghi of Barberino Tavarnelle and San Donato in Poggio, the property enjoys a strategic position: by taking the scenic Chiantigiana road, a true panoramic link that connects Siena (about 40 km) to Florence (about 30 km), you can make daily excursions to visit the renowned towns of Radda, Gaiole, Greve and Panzano, rich in art treasures, churches and Renaissance villas perched on panoramic hills, or go a little further to discover the charm of San Gimignano, Volterra or Montalcino.
Interior:
Country House Lo Spigo lies on sloping terrain that allows outside access from the two floors of which it is composed. On the ground floor is the main entrance that leads into the living room with kitchen and dining area; from here a few steps lead up to a double bedroom (with joinable beds). Downstairs is the living room with satellite TV, a double bedroom with French windows leading out to the garden and ensuite bathroom with shower, and a bathroom with shower with anteroom used as a small laundry with washing machine.
Park:
The house is surrounded by about 1200 sq m of terrain mainly planted with olive trees. The usable garden area extends over two levels for an area of about 700 sq m of lawn, lavender and rosemary bushes, lemon and fruit trees. In front of the entrance to the house, across a paved patio, you come to the beautiful jasmine-covered pergola furnished with a seating area, dining table and barbecue and with, on the side, the solarium and swimming pool. A flight of steps from the patio leads down to the lower lawn area. In front of the house is a parking area. The property is accessed through a remote-controlled gate shared with another property located about 150 m further on. Although not fenced, the house lies within a quiet secluded area thanks to the trees that surround it.
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The swimming pool, set in the green panoramic part of the garden at the side of the house, is located on the same level as it, a few metres away. Measuring 6 x 3.25 m with a constant depth of 1.60 m, it is lined in walnut-coloured travertine and has salt purification, steps for access to the water on one of the short sides and an internal spotlight. Sunbeds, low tables, an umbrella and a portable, cold-water shower are set out on the beautiful paving that surrounds the pool equipped with an isothermal bubble cover (to preserve the water temperature in the cooler months). The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.

The non-heated swimming pool, reserved exclusively for the use of guests, is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October. Located in a central area of the park approximately 40 metres from the house and reached by 4 stone steps, the rectangular pool features a stone border, PVC lining, and Roman steps for water access. It measures 5 x 10 metres with a depth ranging from 0.70 to 1.90 metres, and is equipped with a chlorine purification system and an outdoor cold-water shower. The surrounding lawn includes a generously sized sunbathing area furnished with sunbeds and deckchairs, bordered by plants and abundant blooms and connected via a wooden walkway to a further lawn area ideal for children's play. A large umbrella and an iron gazebo covered with climbing roses, arranged as a small lounge with 4 armchairs and a coffee table, complete the pool area. Villa Cerretalta is in a wonderful position on a small hill surrounded by Brunello vineyards, within the national park of Val D'Orcia. The 7 bedroom, 6 bath property is set between the cities of Montalcino and San Quirico D'Orcia (both are about 10 km away), yet in few minutes you can reach the little town of Torrenieri (5 km) where you can find the nearest shops, supermarket and restaurants.
The owner occasionally uses the independent building nearby and whilst respecting your privacy will be at your disposal if you should need any help.
Cerretalta is completely surrounded by hedges and fences to guarantee total privacy. Nonetheless, you have a wonderful sight over the countryside.
Once you enter the gateway, there is a large courtyard plenty of tables and chairs at guests’ disposal as well as the brick barbeque. Across the court there is a lovely area with a big round stone table and matching benches sheltered from the sun by a pergola. Here there is also a second way out from the property, down a stone staircase and through a small iron gate.
There are two garden areas.
The first one is bordered by mature trees, should the guests enjoy a peaceful shady lawn, and it is situated next to a white travertine floored space with tables, chairs and parasol. This is the perfect location where you can have your meals, while taking in the beautiful view over the surrounding farmland.
From here, few stone steps lead to the second garden that is located near the poolside. A small gate possibly delimits the way so as to prevent little children from reaching the swimming-pool area without permission. Some fruit trees, flowers and shrubs brighten the place and there is also a gazebo with table and chairs. An extensive hedge marks the limits of the patch.
